Skiffs, dug outs, house boats; flotillas of vice. Brothels, boardrooms, traders awash in rum. This is black strap molasses; “ the ‘ol Black Strap”, the thickest, darkest and sweetest of them all. Cane sugar’s “black honey”…currency of the times.
Shine your shoes, shake off the blues. A good clean shirt, some reels and jigs, a fiddle, a banjo; these belong on walls from kitchen to bedroom to back table game rooms.
Inspired by the Caribbean Gulf, made whole in Oakland.

Winter-Salon 2014 Nuremberg
The gallery will present works by 30 artists beyond the metropolitan region of Nuremberg. Showing their contemporary positions in the media of painting, drawing, photography, and sculpture. There will be up to four pieces shown by each artist.
The opening festivity will be on Sunday November 23 from 2 pm to 6 pm.

(...) “Kathrin is working with found forms, tracking them and adding density to a wondrous cosmos, She carries us away into the state of euphoria through astronomical fantasies. Christiane is building the conditions of her artistic area of activity as well—deliberately interlacing nature and artifact, coolly calculating two-dimensionality and consequently, confounding the three-dimensional reality. Coincidence turns accomplice with the compositions of Christiane and Kathrin Feser. The respectively used apparatus turns means to an end: it enables André Bazin’s “pure hallucination.” There is order in chaos. Coincidence follows a plan.
